Active Botanical Co has come a long way. From an underwhelming CBD vendor with too much missing information to an outstanding example of safety testing protocols, here’s a brand that makes adjustments in the best interest of consumers. We dig that. We also dig their all-natural line of CBD products that caters to the more experienced CBD user.

Active Botanical Co uses pure CBD isolate (no full-spectrum products here) they say is made from 100% organic hemp. Unfortunately, we don’t know where specifically they source their supposedly organic plants and have no idea what extraction method is used to procure their isolate. These are two key elements you should look for before purchasing any CBD oil product, and they make up the parameters for our Quality Badge. Accordingly, we are unable to verify the quality of the products in this case.

Where Active Botanical excels is their safety documentation. The brand posts current, third-party cannabinoid profiles for each SKU and contaminants results for residual solvents, pesticides, microbiological impurities, and heavy metals. The Active Botanical Co. line isn’t cheap; the lowest price is $55 for their 750mg CBD pet tinctures. But the company isn’t ripping us off — they exclusively deal in very high concentrations of cannabidiol. We, therefore, recommend these products for people who are more experienced with CBD or those who need more concentrated relief.

Active Botanical Co offers four formulations with CBD isolate: Relax, Energy, Therapeutic, and Pet. Each formulation contains a proprietary terpene blend geared toward the corresponding intention. The Relax formula has terpenes to help you relax, the Energy product will give you a boost, and the Therapeutic features a combination of these two terpene profiles with increased CBD content that’s marketed to those with ‘serious issues.’ Lastly, the Pet formula is obviously intended for furry companions.

Each formulation solely comes in the form of tinctures of varying strengths, with the exception of the Therapeutic formula which also comes in a CBD salve. We give Active Botanical Co an A for their ingredient choices — all-natural and simple — and bonus points for their intelligent terpene selections.

Blending terpenes with CBD isolate is a great idea and one that many vendors now practice to ease the minds of consumers who don’t want THC but want more of what the amazing hemp plant has to offer. And we like how Active Botanical Co correctly states their CBD products are not, in fact, full-spectrum, but broad-spectrum.

The terminology around full-spectrum and broad-spectrum has gotten murky, and many CBD vendors are taking advantage, slapping the full spectrum label on products that do not contain multiple cannabinoids and sometimes, not even terpenes. We, therefore, tip our hats to Active Botanical Co for their total transparency.

Active Botanical Co gets the Innovation Badge for their therapeutic Black Label line, mainly because these products have some of the highest concentrations of CBD available online. The Black Label CBD salve has a whopping 5,000mg CBD, and the tinctures range from 6,000 to 24,000mg. These products don’t come cheap, and they’re definitely not for the novice.

Bottom Line – Active Botanical Co has a broad spectrum line of CBD isolate infused with terpenes at higher concentration levels. We recommend their all-natural line for those who are more experienced with CBD.
