Velobar CBD Review

‘Nirvana is hard to attain, but Velobar comes close.’ Now THAT’S a brand that’s totally confident in their product! We can see why. Velobar CBD crafts protein bars from organic ingredients; they’re vegan, gluten free, non-GMO, and they pack 20 mg of CBD in each bar. But perhaps the most intriguing aspect of their product is the origin of their CBD — no hemp involved. Velobar CBD is one of the first brands to utilize a new, totally renewable source of cannabidiol that’s going to shake up the industry.

Brant Reiter, co-founder and CEO of Velobar, received a lightning bolt of brand inspiration after a long bike ride in his home state of Oregon. He wanted a protein bar, but he also wanted the added benefits of CBD to go along with it. After a four-year process of experimentation, Velobar was born as a CBD protein bar that tastes amazing and has the kind of ingredients that support holistic health — organic, gluten-free, vegan, and non-GMO.

Velobar CBD is not the first to market a CBD protein bar, but they are one of the first in another regard. Currently, they are one of a small handful of vendors to use CBD derived from orange peel and evergreen. This is a revolutionary new sourcing/process that’s completely renewable — evergreen bark grows right back and it happens to be an invasive species — and does not require any solvents or heat for extraction.

The ‘extraction’ method for this new CBD source is overtly technical, but put simply, it involves combining molecules in a sort of stack. Intermolecular Stacking Technology makes the cannabidiol soluble in virtually all environments — water, oil, you name it. Not only is this new source and the tech behind it revolutionary, it’s probably one of the most innovative leaps we’ve seen in a long time.

Back to Velobar. As of now, they have just one flavor, but we’re infatuated with the ingredients: organic nuts and seeds, organic dates, organic sunflower butter, and CBD. They probably qualify for the USDA organic certification, but this can be a painstaking process to obtain, so perhaps they are waiting or on the certification path.

Each bar has seven grams of clean plant protein, 15 grams of healthy fats, and 20 mg of CBD. The sugar content is relatively low, and since it comes from organic dates, we’re not too concerned. Four bars will set you back $20 for this protein-powered snack that can easily double as a meal. It’s the perfect combo of protein and CBD for recovery after a workout or long walk!

The Safety Badge is an interesting situation with Velobar and the few brands using CBD from orange peels and evergreen bark. Contaminants tests are virtually unneeded, save for perhaps microbials. For Velobar CBD, a current cannabinoid profile conducted by a third party would suffice. Unfortunately, right now they don’t have one.

Bottom Line – Velobar CBD makes perhaps the cleanest CBD protein bar out there; your taste buds and your endocannabinoid system will thank you.
