We don’t know anything about the Petal backstory, nor their founding members, nor their team’s credentials. We do know that the brand promises ‘quality you can afford’ and follows through with a reasonably priced line of CBD products. Petal offers wholesale opportunities as well as bundle-and-save options to help you save even more when you want to stock up.

It’s pretty clear from the lack of information on the company that Petal is not a seed-to-sale operation, meaning they do not have control over all steps of production. And that’s OK, but they still have an obligation to tell consumers a bit more about their cannabidiol.

For example, Petal lets us know they source industrial hemp grown in the USA, which is great. But they don’t tell us anything about how it is grown or how their CBD oil is extracted. The extraction method is an important piece of information when choosing a CBD product, since many companies use noxious chemicals like butane and propane. 

Because Petal does not disclose their extraction method, nor do they provide a residual solvents test to make sure no harmful toxins are lurking, the Quality Badge is a no-go for now.

Same goes for the Safety Badge.

First off, Petal does not post any contaminants results whatsoever. And second, a couple of their CoAs for potency are dated by over a year, making them currently ineligible.

Petal offers seven categories of CBD products that include isolate, broad spectrum, and full spectrum options. Interestingly (and confusingly), the brand does not label their items as such, with the exception of the full spectrum CBD capsules. FYI, a test dated by over one year does — in theory — verify this last claim with concentrations of multiple cannabinoids. We’ll let you make the call as we discuss each offering:

• CBD oil tinctures- According to current independent lab tests, these appear to be made with CBD isolate. Ingredients are listed as CBD, MCT oil, and ‘flavoring’. We cannot verify if all-natural ingredients are used to create their flavors and would appreciate clarification for consumers.
• Full spectrum CBD oil capsules (30mg ea)
• CBD pain cream- As far as CBD topicals go, this one is fairly clean with phenoxyethanol as the only unsavory synthetic. The rest of the ingredients are mostly organic, including arnica and lemongrass oil to soothe aching joints and muscles. FYI test results show this to be a broad spectrum product, with multiple cannabinoids in addition to CBD but zero THC.
• CBD face serum- Again, this option is pretty clean as well with just the phenoxyethanol to report and skin-loving ingredients like carrot seed oil, CoQ10, and vitamins A, E, and C.
• CBD sleep tinctures with melatonin
• CBD crystalline isolate
• CBD vape pens- These do not contain any vitamin E or chemicals like PG. Though again, we cannot again verify the ‘naturalness’ of the flavoring, the rest of the ingredients pass the test with just MCT oil, CBD, and terpenes.

We want to close by tipping our hats to Petal for their generous military/veterans discount — a whopping 30%. We encourage the brand to update their CoAs, run contaminants tests, and disclose their extraction method. And if the extraction method is unsavory, find a different supplier!

Bottom Line – Petal offers an affordable line of CBD products with isolate and broad spectrum options and full spectrum capsules. Until they can disclose some more information about their company and update their lab tests, we’re holding off on this one.
