Dr. Kerklaan Therapeutics Review

Dr. Kerklaan Therapeutics certainly has the high-end appeal nailed. With nods in Vogue, Rolling Stone, and Goop, the CBD topical brand is a favorite among jetsetters and wellness junkies willing to pay a premium for the best CBD products they can find. Dr. Kerklaan misses the mark with our Safety and Charity Badges, but they are undoubtedly a force to be reckoned with in the upscale CBD topical space.

Dr. Kerklaan Therapeutics is brought to you by Dr. Andrew Kerklaan himself, a chiropractor with over two decades experience in integrative health. He began heavily researching and studying the natural benefits in CBD back in 2013 to provide his patients with a natural solution to pain management. Dr. Kerklaan says:

“As a chiropractor, you are personally invested in caring for people one-one-one. Our products are really an extension of that care I always provide my patients.”

The brand describes their cannabidiol products as ‘upscale, highly effective plant-based CBD topical solutions.’ Their team is supposedly made up of ‘endocannabinoid professionals, business visionaries, and wellness activists,’ and all CBD products in the line have been formulated by biochemists.

But what about the cannabidiol itself that’s inside each bottle?

Good news! Dr. Kerklaan Therapeutics sources their hemp from Oregon farms, and recent contaminants tests prove it to be free of nasty stuff like residual solvents and pesticides. The brand earns our Quality Badge, but has some work to do (well, the third-party lab has some work to do) to earn the Safety Badge.

The brand hits most of the marks for contaminants testing, with microbiological impurities as the only missing component. Also, we can verify that their cannabidiol is indeed full spectrum, with other cannabinoids like CBG present and a slew of beneficial terpenes visible on a third-party terpenes test.

If Dr. Kerklaan Therapeutics simply runs one more contaminants test and provides potency results for every SKU (there is currently only one), the Safety Badge is theirs.

Dr. Kerklaan Therapeutics offers six CBD topicals, all of which are:

• Non-greasy
• Triple-lab tested
• Cruelty-free
• Free of the cannabis/hemp smell

The line is not cheap and comes in at the higher end of the price spectrum for CBD topicals, considering the concentrations. Each of the CBD creams is targeted at a specific issue, with a Relief, PMS, Skin, and Sleep formula. The Relief formula also comes in a CBD spray for larger areas and a stick application for those hard-to-reach spots.

Each formulation contains essential oil blends, but there are many synthetics lurking here — not one of the Dr. Kerklaan Therapeutics CBD topicals are made with all-natural ingredients. This does not mean that they are harmful, but watch out for synthetics including phenoxyethanol, aminomethyl propanol, tetramethyl acetyloctahydronaphthalenes, steareth-20 and more.

Since the brand uses nano CBD particles in all their topicals for increased absorption rates, we are granting them the Innovation Badge. Overall, these CBD products seem to have caught major attention for a reason with their precise formulas that many claim are highly effective.

But we do want to point out that the brand claims they are the ‘only hemp CBD-based brand formulated by a doctor’ — which we know from our extensive research is not true. Hopefully, they can remove this statement and get involved with charity to earn a higher badge rating from us.

Bottom Line – Dr. Kerklaan offers a line of expensive, quality CBD topicals that are all the rage of the jet set and Goop bunch. As a minor caveat, we’d like to see them give to a nonprofit and remove some of the synthetics they use in their products.
