Apothecanna Review

Apothecanna wants to spread the wisdom of plant-based wellness solutions and sustainability. The company claims to use all-natural ingredients known to help ‘balance the body and the senses’. Furthermore, they state they do not use any artificial ingredients, including harmful parabens and other synthetics. We believe their all-natural claims check out, however, we don’t have hard evidence, as no comprehensive ingredients lists currently exist online.

We always get a little concerned when these aren’t present on a CBD vendor’s website. By comprehensive ingredients lists, we mean a clear list of ALL items present in the product, with the most transparent vendors posting photos of the ingredients lists on their CBD product packaging. However, it’s not always a total deal breaker.

But something that is? Not knowing anything whatsoever about apparent CBD in a product line.

Apothecanna lists ‘cannabis’ as an ingredient in every single product in their skincare lineup. However, there is no mention of the words ‘CBD’, ‘cannabidiol’, or even ‘hemp’ anywhere on the company’s website — no mention of THC content, nothing.

The only evidence we could find that Apothecanna products actually contain CBD is on their Instagram page, where they have used hashtags like #cbdproducts and #cbdhealth. And several customers/influencers have posted photos and videos describing the brand’s topicals as CBD products.

But as far as the posts themselves, Apothecanna does not mention anything about cannabidiol.

They also mention zip about testing— concerning, and obviously an obstacle to receiving our Safety Badge.

The Apothecanna line is apparently vegan and non-GMO, made with therapeutic-grade essential oils, natural botanicals, and cannabis. Apothecanna touts themselves as purveyors of ‘high performance cannabis care’ with the following options (Remember, ‘cannabis’ is listed as the ingredient here, not CBD, cannabidiol, nor hemp oil):

• Body spray with juniper, arnica, and peppermint
• Body oil and creme
• Oil rollerball
• Face & body oil
• Leg & foot cream with ginger, capsaicin, and grapefruit to promote circulation
• Super salve with frankincense, myrrh, and green tea
• Personal intimacy oil
• Bug spray- Our doubts and questions about whether or not their products are tested or psychoactive aside, Apothecanna earns the Innovative Badge for this one. Cannabis bug sprays are a fairly niche thing, and the brand has an effective combo here of citronella, eucalyptus, and tea tree oil, all known for their insect-repellent properties.

We admit, the Apothecanna Instagram page is enchanting, unlike any other brand we have seen. They seem to have a loyal following of customers, so maybe they know something we don’t.

Bottom Line- Until Apothecanna makes clear statements about the cannabis in their products — including whether or not it’s tested, psychoactive, or high in CBD — we’re hesitant to jump on board. The brand seems to ship to most states, so perhaps we can assume their catalog is legal at the federal level. But you know what they’ say about assuming…
