The Alchemista team is made up of wellness experts and entrepreneurs, people who are ‘strong believers in good business’. The brand says all the right things about their approach, their ‘clean, non-GMO, lab tested products’, and of course, their lucrative direct sales program. Unlike most MLM CBD companies we see, Alchemista apparently requires zero investment to get involved. Intriguing, but not something we’ll get into in this review.
What we will get into is where Alchemista sources their hemp. The good news is that they exclusively use US hemp grown in Colorado and Oregon to procure their cannabidiol. These plants are apparently grown organically, without the use of pesticides. And the brand’s contaminants tests indeed confirm that there are no nasty pesticides lurking in any of their CBD products.
However, we unfortunately have to withhold both the Quality Badge and the Safety Badge from Alchemista at this time. Here’s why.
Alchemista does not state their extraction method, but they do provide residual solvents tests. Normally, if we see clean residual solvents results, we can still award the Quality Badge, even if we aren’t sure of the extraction method.
The problem here is a couple of the residual solvents tests we viewed. Alchemista’s CBD tinctures show high levels of ethanol and 2-propanol present. It’s something to look out for, but not necessarily a deal breaker.
On the other hand, we noted the presence of n-pentane in the brand’s CBD capsules. N-pentane is a flammable chemical that definitely should not be ingested. While the other residual solvents tests for their CBD pet products show a passing grade, we are very wary of this noxious chemical in the capsules, and therefore cannot verify quality and safety.
