Look out world! The CBD jelly bean is here! And it’s made by the master himself. David Klein, inventor of the original Jelly Belly® jelly beans, has applied his passion for delicious candy to the CBD space with delightful and original flavors you won’t find anywhere else. Unfortunately, Spectrum Confections admittedly doesn’t pan out well with our methodology, but we’re still stoked on these hot, new CBD treats. Read on.
David Klein changed the candy game in 1976 when he introduced us to a new household name: Jelly Belly®. Now, his new company makes confectionery delights (just jelly beans for now) infused with hemp CBD. Their CBD jelly beans have made massive headlines across online media and even television, and they were voted #1 CBD Confectionery of 2019 at the CBD Expo in Seattle.
Currently, Spectrum Confections CBD jelly beans are sold on their website and through third-party retailers that include both brick-and-mortar and online shops. There are a whopping 38 flavors, seven of which are sugar-free. The company claims to use all-natural flavors whenever possible and makes their CBD candies in small batches to maintain consistency, supposedly 10mg in each bean.
When you think about it, that’s a pretty high concentration for a little jelly bean. About three would put you at the average daily dose. And who has the willpower to eat only three jelly beans?
We actually didn’t find out about the 10mg dosage from Spectrum Confections, but from a couple of third-party vendors online. This is also where we found an independently performed cannabinoid profile, which shows that the CBD Jelly Beans are made with CBD isolate. In fact, one of these tests showed a jelly bean testing at 12.8mg CBD per bean. Even more than what you pay for!
Because Spectrum Confessions doesn’t post these results on their website — and there are no contaminants results — we cannot award the Safety Badge. And since we have zero clue as to the origin of their hemp or their extraction method, we also cannot award the Quality Badge.
Low rating aside, we have to admit this is a really cool CBD product. At present, Spectrum Confections sells their CBD jelly beans in regular, sour, and sugar-free and offers bulk and white label sales. They have a CBD oil tincture line coming soon, and although it’s most likely stacked with artificial ingredients, we can’t help but get excited about original flavors like buttered popcorn and cream soda. Like being a kid again!
The last thing we want to mention is the pricing. The CBD jelly beans are being sold on the company website at $480 for 800 pieces (free shipping) — that’s 60 cents per bean. Since each bean purportedly contains 10mg CBD, you can intake 100mg for only $6. This makes Spectrum Confections CBD jelly beans one of the most affordable CBD edibles out there!
Bottom Line – Spectrum Confections is the brainchild of the founder of Jelly Belly® with the market’s first CBD jelly beans. Although we can’t substantiate the quality and safety of their CBD itself, we are intrigued by the unrivaled flavors and high potency of these little treats.
