True to its mix-minded namesake, Apothecary has a flair for whipping things up on request, with the company offering in-house customization of cannabidiol flower blends, which can be rolled up and smoked. It’s a cool concept – one Apothecary itself likens to a “craft beer” approach to CBD oil. Still, we just wish there was a bit more evidence of the company’s other foodie-borrowed idea: the farm-to-table path they say their hemp is on.
1937 Apothecary was a direct result of founder Sarah’s passion for photography: While on assignment in Colorado, she ran into the founders of another COR-reviewed company, Nature’s Root, and the mother-daughter team inspired her interest in cannabidiol.
From there, Sarah took the concept back to her hometown of Austin, Texas, where she’s trying to make the CBD oil scene bigger, in accordance with the state’s motto.
Helping her in that mission is a large inventory of cannabidiol-based products, ranging from CBD oil tinctures to pre-rolled cannabidiol joints to pouches of hemp flowers. Perhaps with the meaning behind its name in mind, Apothecary has specially formulated most of its products, with specific hemp strands chosen to help bring about sleep, peace, and energy boosts.
The company also takes that per-order concept one step farther, with employees available to mix the fresh flowers directly in front of in-person customers. Prices run from $13 for a single pre-rolled “wrap” to $96 for its largest and most potent available bottle of vegan-friendly CBD oil capsules.
It’s a cool approach to cannabidiol, but we unfortunately don’t get too many specifics on the CBD oil itself. Apothecary says its hemp is grown organically and that a farm-to-table approach is utilized at the store, but sadly there’s no mention of CBD oil extraction methods nor Certificates of Analysis on the site.
Bottom Line – Apothecary has a unique mission that certainly lives up to its name, but we’d like to peek behind the curtain just a bit more when it comes to their CBD oil extraction method of choice in order to award a quality badge, and third-party lab test results would go a long way toward earning our all-important safety badge.
