CBD Oil Dosage: General Tips to Assess How Much CBD to Take

By and large, the acceptance and use of cannabidiol as a therapeutic, healing substance is in its infancy. Medical professionals and scientists are only now beginning to develop dosing schedules for medical marijuana, medicinal hemp, and their extracts (including CBD).

Even with the current wave of states legalizing medical marijuana, many physicians are hesitant to prescribe cannabinoids like CBD. This is for two reasons:

1 – Doctors cannot prescribe (only recommend) cannabinoids, because there’s no recommended daily allowance (RDA) or universal dose for all people.

2 – Most medical schools never cover CBD/cannabidiol therapy in their pharmacology courses (the drug curriculum revolves primarily around substances that can be patented).

Because there is no recommended dose, the information presented on this page is intended to serve only as an informational guide – a starting point of reference – and should never be considered medical advice.

When it comes to cannabinoids, there is one universal truth to keep in mind:

Everyone Is Different

There are countless variables such as weight, diet, metabolism, genetics, environment, product consistency, and more that make a universally prescribed dosage an impossibility.

While we wish we could provide the public with a mathematical CBD dosage calculator, it isn’t quite that simple – very rough estimates are about as good as it gets.

With these facts in mind, most people who are new to cannabidiol begin their journey by starting with the minimal suggested CBD dosage on any product, then gradually increasing the dose until they achieve the desired results.

We at CBD Oil Review (COR) have created an official COR Serving Standard through an extensive analysis of hundreds of CBD products.

Our Top Trusted CBD Oil Pick

Joy Organics THC Free Gummies are our top CBD pick because of their potency and delicious flavor. Each gummy contains 10-25mg of organic CBD which helps you tackle whatever stresses life throws at you, on-the go. Interested shoppers can check out Joy Organics Gummies using the native shopping unit below. All purchases are made with and shipped directly from the brand.

The (COR) Serving Standard is 25mg of CBD, taken twice daily.

Additionally, our analysis suggests  increasing the amount of CBD you take every 3-4 weeks by 25mg until you attain symptom relief (inversely, decrease by 25mg if symptoms worsen).

Additionally, you might find it useful to record your daily experiences in a notebook so you can accurately narrow in on what works and feels best for you. With that understanding in place, it is now time to learn more about CBD oil and how to find the right CBD oil dosage for you.

How Much CBD Oil Should I Take?

Mayo Clinic suggests CBD dosages based on scientific research, publications, traditional use, and expert opinion. Cannabinoid dosages and duration of treatment depend mainly on the illness (and countless other factors).

The Mayo Clinic provides specific dosage recommendations for various illnesses, including:

  • Loss of Appetite in Cancer Patients: 2.5mg of THC (orally), with or without 1mg of CBD for six weeks. [S
  • Pain Relief: 100-150mg of CBD, or 25mg when combined with THC.[S, S, S]
  • Epilepsy: A daily dose of 20 – 25mg of CBD per Kg bodyweight. [S, S]
  • Movement Problems Due to Huntington’s Disease: 10mg of CBD per kg of body weight daily for six weeks (orally). [S]
  • Sleep Disorders: 40mg-160mg of CBD (orally). [S]
  • Multiple Sclerosis (MS) symptoms: Cannabis plant extracts containing 2.5-120 milligrams of a THC/CBD combination daily for 2-15 weeks. Patients typically use eight sprays within any three hours, with a maximum of 48 sprays in any 24-hour period. [S]
  • Schizophrenia: 40-1,280mg oral CBD daily. [S]

Learn the Types of CBD Products

CBD hemp oil comes in seemingly endless forms, each with a different concentration of CBD and other phytocannabinoids. Determining how to use CBD oil first starts with choosing your route of administration – in other words, choosing the best way to take CBD oil for your needs and lifestyle.

These include…

Ingestibles:

  • Liquid hemp oil, like CBD tinctures or CBD drops
  • CBD concentrated into a thick paste (often referred to as Rick Simpson Oil, or RSO)
  • Encapsulated CBD oil
  • Phytocannabinoid-rich sprays/spritzers (generally designed for application beneath the tongue)
  • Bottled water containing nano-sized CBD particles
  • CBD-infused chewing gum
  • On-the-go dissolvable powders containing CBD (oftentimes blended with other adaptogenic herbs)
  • Cooking oils (such as coconut oil or olive oil) with added cannabinoids
  • CBD-infused edibles (i.e., gummies, brownies, cookies, etc.; generally for individuals who are sensitive to smoking/vaping)

Smokables:

  • Crystalline isolates
  • Wax (similar to THC-containing marijuana concentrates called “shatter”)
  • CBD-rich eLiquids and/or vape cartridges (akin to an e-cigarette)

Topicals:

  • Transdermal patches with CBD (similar to a nicotine patch)
  • Cannabidiol-infused salves, balms, lotions, shampoos, or soaps (for topical use)
  • Bath bombs infused with CBD

Decide How to Use CBD Oil

While many options like chewing gum need no instructions, we have compiled these tips on how to take CBD oil:

Liquid CBD Oil/Tinctures/Extracts: Drops or tinctures should have a “suggested serving size” and the total milligrams of CBD listed on their packaging. From there, you can determine the amount of CBD you would like to ingest. Simply place the correct quantity of drops under your tongue using the dropper and hold the CBD oil in place for a minimum of 60 seconds. The 60 second hold allows for absorption via the blood vessels underneath your tongue – efficiently bypassing first-pass metabolism. Once 60 seconds has passed, swallow the CBD oil.

CBD E-Liquid/Vape Cartridges: Vaping is excellent for people looking for an immediate response, as inhalation is the fastest way to deliver CBDs to your brain and body. To use vape simply exhale gently the air from your lungs then inhale through the mouthpiece slowly for 3 seconds. Then fill your lungs the rest of the way with additional breath and hold for a few seconds, exhaling when ready. There are pre-filled, cost-effective vape pens and cartridges available as well as more expensive vaporizers that you can refill with CBD-infused e-liquid.

CBD Edibles: With edibles, the only required steps are open, eat, and enjoy! This method of consumption will result in more drawn-out effects that also take longer to kick in than some of the other options. Edibles are great for those seeking sustained effects, or for those who want to be subtle about their usage of CBDs.

CBD Isolates/Concentrates: Anyone familiar with smoking hash or other cannabis concentrates like wax and BHO will be no stranger to this delivery method. Simply sprinkle some into a vaporizer or water pipe, ignite, inhale, and enjoy! We find that this option is useful for individuals looking to elevate their regular consumption of CBD-rich cannabis flowers or other smokable herbs.

For quick reference, refer to this chart of ingestion methods for the pros and cons of each delivery method so can decide for yourself the best way to take CBD oil:

Delivery Method Pros Cons Time of Onset Duration of Effects Recommended if you…
Ingestibles (E.g. edibles; capsules; oil drops; drink powders) Convenient; Dosage control; Discreet; Familiar; Doesn't harm the lungs Slow to take effect 30-60 minutes Edibles/Capsules:4-6 hours; Tinctures/Drops: 2-4 hours Consider discretion a top priority and/or want more control over dosage
Smokables (E.g. Vapes; flower) Fast acting; Easy to use; Social; Familiar Non-discreet; Smoking/Vaping are illegal in many public settings; Can feel harsh on the lungs Instant 45 minutes-1 hour Are trying to quit cigarettes or need fast-acting relief
Topicals (E.g. Lotions; balms; gels) Can be applied directly to affected area; Bypasses liver metabolism; Long-lasting; Can be worked into daily hygiene routine Slow to take effect Varies widely due to factors like hair growth and amount of fatty tissue Typically 5+ hours Experiencing local pain of the skin or joints or into body care in general.
Transdermal Patches Longest lasting effects;Bypasses liver metabolism;Steady release of CBD into the bloodstream May take hours to feel effects Varies depending on amount of fatty tissue and hair on the skin 1-2 days Have chronic pain or will go a long period of time where the other delivery methods aren't available

Choose a CBD Brand with a Dosage You Can Trust

Figuring out how much CBD oil to take can feel like trying to navigate through a complicated maze. The sheer volume of CBD brands on the market can create confusion for consumers, and when you take a closer look, it’s not difficult to understand why. Not only do vendors use different source materials (CBD-rich cannabis vs. industrial hemp, different strains, etc.), but they also implement different extraction techniques .

Adding to the confusion, many vendors recommend excessive doses, while others suggest amounts that are a fraction of what experts would consider effective.

As with a fermented food like kombucha, slight natural variations are normal and to be expected in a product such as CBD oil because it is made from living plants. Changes in the weather, soil, and water can all impact the biology of the source material. While we verify Certificates of Analysis (and take many other criteria into consideration during our review process), even the most reputable five-star companies have no way to control for every variable in this organic process.

While perhaps not as ideal as a CBD dosage chart, we at CBD Oil Review (COR) have created an official COR Serving Standard through an extensive analysis of hundreds of products.

The (COR) Serving Standard is 25mg of CBD, taken twice daily.

Additionally, our analysis suggests  increasing the amount of CBD you take every 3-4 weeks by 25mg until you attain symptom relief (inversely, decrease by 25mg if symptoms worsen).

Consider Why Your Health Would Benefit from CBD

Cannabinoids such as CBD have a dizzying array of functions in the human body, influencing  everything from inflammation to anxiety and depression. You don’t necessarily need to have a serious illness to benefit from CBD; even healthy individuals can experience a remarkable increase in their quality of life with its use.

The following is a chart of illnesses/conditions that whose symptoms may be relieved by CBD:

Keep in mind that this CBD benefits list is in no way complete; we are only beginning to discover how cannabinoids can help.

Know You Cannot Overdose on CBD

There is no established lethal dose of CBD, and chronic use/high doses of up to 1500 mg per day (30x  MORE than the COR Serving Standard!) have been repeatedly shown to be well tolerated by humans.

As with any natural product, it is important to speak with your physician prior to beginning use. There are some slight risks associated with using CBD in high doses or for extended periods of time, including:

  • Mild Low Blood Pressure
  • Dry Mouth
  • Lightheadedness
  • Sedation
  • Reduced activity of T and B Cells
  • Decreased Fertilization Capacity
  • Reduced p-Glycoprotein activity
  • Reduced activity of Cytochrome P450 (CYP450) Enzyme

Keep in mind that these side effects illustrate worst-case scenarios with CBD, and are not necessarily typical.

There is one major exception to the “generally harmless” attitude about CBD and that is the negative effect cannabinoids can have on the functioning of the liver’s CYP450 enzyme. Approximately 60% of all pharmaceutical drugs are degraded by this enzyme, and CBD can slow the metabolization of these drugs:

  • Steroids
  • HMG CoA reductase inhibitors
  • Calcium channel blockers
  • Antihistamines
  • Prokinetics
  • HIV-antivirals
  • Immune modulators
  • Benzodiazepines
  • Antiarrhythmics
  • Antibiotics
  • Anesthetics
  • Antipsychotics
  • Antidepressants
  • Anti-epileptics
  • Beta blockers
  • PPIs
  • NSAIDs
  • Angiotensin II blockers
  • Oral hypoglycemic agents
  • Sulfonylureas

Before you start taking CBD, please read about drug interactions.

It is important to note that even something as benign as grapefruit juice can cause the same CYP450 enzyme inhibitory action as CBD.

The most important things to do before taking CBD (or any other herbal product) are research any possible drug interactions and talk with your physician to address any additional questions regarding CBD drug interactions or overdose concerns. You and your doctor together will always know best!

Understand How Your Genetics Impact CBD Dosing

As if you didn’t have enough factors to consider when deciding your ideal CBD oil dosage, now you have to think about how your own genetics can impact this amount.

Some individuals have been found to have mutations on the CNR1 gene, which is responsible for coding the CB1 receptor (a type of receptor in cells throughout your body that interacts with cannabinoids). Issues with the CNR1 gene can ultimately result in a poorly functioning endocannabinoid system, which is an important variable when figuring out how to use CBD oil.

How lifestyle choices impact the effect of CBD

Various substances can profoundly affect CB1 receptors. Certain lifestyle choices can impact how your body metabolizes CBD.

We are only beginning to understand which factors influence CBD metabolism, and as such it’s a good idea to take anything related to this emerging science with a grain of salt. As with any natural substance, consult with your physician about any questions and/or concerns you may have regarding CBD and how to use CBD oil.

Rest Easy Knowing CBD Oil Is Not Physically Addictive

People often ask us, “Can I get addicted to CBD oil?” This is a tricky question, and the answer ultimately depends on your school of thought.

Based strictly on chemistry, the answer is no. Cannabidiol is not physically addictive in the same way substances like heroin, cocaine, alcohol, opiates, benzodiazepines, and related substances can be. Further, CBD cannot produce any physical withdrawal symptoms in and of itself upon cessation of use.

(Interestingly, CBD is currently undergoing study for its ability to minimize withdrawal from drugs with severe cessation symptoms, like opiates.)

However, human beings can get addicted to just about anything that isn’t chemically addicting: exercise, music, sex, and food are great examples.

Those who take CBD daily to relieve symptoms of chronic illness and other severe conditions may find that their unpleasant sensations return shortly after they miss a dose. This is no different than one’s headache returning once the effects of ibuprofen wear off.

However, because CBD can alter the levels of essential liver enzymes, it is crucial to do your research, talk to your physician, and figure out the best way to take CBD oil for your specific situation. Information and education will be your allies in your quest for healing.

Get the Most Bang for Your Buck

If you’ve been using CBD products for some time without verifying the potency through their vendors, it’s highly probable you’ve been using a minimally effective formulation that hasn’t been delivering as much CBD as you thought (or as much as you’ve paid for!).

This is why CBD Oil Review exists, why we’ve created our five-badge rating system, and why we’ve enlisted independent reviewers to verify that CBD companies are being ethical.

Consider a Cannabis Doctor to Answer Your Difficult Questions

Most doctors don’t specialize medicinal cannabis and CBD oil. This means they may not be able to help you as thoroughly as you had hoped and they may be unable to offer guidance when it comes to helping you decide how much CBD oil to take. It is also worth noting that many patients feel uncomfortable talking to their doctor about cannabis and CBD.

If you have detailed questions about how much CBD oil to take, how to take CBD oil, drug interactions, or just want to know what to do next, consult with a cannabis doctor today!

There has been thousands of studies showing that it works. this will hurt BIGPHARMA companies. They want our money they dont care about our lives. crippled with chronic pain and suffered terribly. Nothing worked until i came across CBD. You mention that there are countless variables that goes into how much CBD oil one should take. My sister is just wanting to start taking the oil for migraine relief. 28. Avatar Debbie says:

I know that’s hard to understand. I have spent well over a thousand dollars buying medical marijuana and not having it work consistently (the last purchase was for a cbd tincture and a part cbd/part thc tincture and neither helped-not even a little, so I wasted $120. I find a strain that helps but since there are thousands of strains I often can’t get the same strain even going to multiple dispensaries. My doctor wanted to help, so he wrote me a prescription for synthetic thc to help w/ my appetite. I have a prescription plan that covers it, so right now that is what I am doing until I can find something better.

  29. Avatar James says:

Research and make sure the enzyme blocked does not react with chemo therapy as a lot of chemo drugs are effected by it. Similar to how grapefruit effects many medications.

  31. Avatar Tori Raddison says:

I didn’t know that doctors can’t prescribe cannabinoids but I guess it makes sense if there’s no recommended dose they can suggest. I can see why finding the right dosage is so important. I think it’s smart to start with too little than too much.

  32. Avatar shantelfullerton says:

Did you already try WeedBorn CBD products?

  33. Avatar timothy shelton says:

I suffer from high anxiety and do not get much sleep. So I decided to try this so call CBD oil. After about a month of taking about 50 mg a day I noticed I was more relaxed, and less stressed out. I also sleep the whole night, out cold and wake up feeling totally refreshed. I have suffered so many years and I am so glad that I found something that really helps me. I dont know about any one else but I love it. Go CBD!!!

I really appreciate your efforts put in this blog post. Keep it up!!

  36. Avatar Mike says:

This advice given on how much to take is so vague and unrealistic it’s nothing short of guessing work. It’s ridiculous and totally conflicting with other recommendations from other sites/places.
It makes me wonder if cbd oil even does anything at all.I think it’s all just a bunch of money grabbing nonsense.

  37. Avatar Rhiannon says:

Very interesting and informative article pal! I found it interesting that CBD oil can help you to sleep better by relaxing your body and mind. But Over dosage can make you addictive and it will also effect health in way or other.

  46. Avatar bj says:

You can take gummies that have 25mg of cbd. I take 10mg cbd tincture and 10mgs is one dropper full.

  47. Avatar Cannatonic says:

This will depend on how many mg are in the bottle.
Low mg such as 250mg/30ml bottle will require 3 full ml or 10% of the bottle. We recommend using a higher dosage such as 1000mg/30ml which will supply 33.3mg per full dropper. Remember to place under the tongue for better Bio-availability.

  48. Avatar Jack Ken says:

I’ve been using a Knockout CBD tinctures and their CBD Hemp flower, for arthritis pain, insomnia and anxiety. I buy it from online and I can honestly say it really helps. I’ve tried going without it and I can tell.

Any recommendations for energy? I have narcolepsy.
    Thanks

  50. Avatar Ryan Neil says:

Anywhere from 5mg to 25mg spread throughout the day (2 or 3 doses). Keep in mind, to have very serious negative effects from taking too much CBD oil is more than 20,000 mg.

  51. Avatar Ryan Neil says:

Hi Tiffany. I too suffer from ADHD and have found THC an also CBD to be very calming yet focus driven. Perpetually better than taking Adderall or any synthetic stimulant that “claims” to relieve the symptoms of ADHD, but in truth makes the problem much worse due to a dangerous chemical restructuring many pharma pills create. For your daughter about 10ml or 20ml would be a great starting point. CBD will help, that I know for certain. Best wishes to CBD naturally helping your daughter!

  52. Avatar Ryan Neil says:

Anywhere from 50ml to 200ml. Conduct your own scientific experiment by starting at a low dose, say 25ml and see how you react to that amount of CBD.Ether up the dose or lower the dose. I recommend CBD vape cartridge or tinctures. Hope this helps and you have a speedy recovery!

  53. Avatar Ryan Neil says:

The tincture dropper usually has a mg display on the glass dropper that sucks up the oil. For example, I’ve used many that go from 5ml 10ml 25ml 50ml etc. It’s best to suck up a small amount first like 10ml and see how you react to that. Then you will have a basis of the effects CBD produces when using the tincture method.

  57. Avatar Sandalah says:

My mother fought a rare cancer, Angiosarcoma. She was helped tremendously from taking the Rick Simpson oil. But it was only afterwards that we realized she needed a much higher dosage for her cancer. Her medicinal grade dosage helped eradicate all inflammation and this was very visible, she slept better and helped with the side effects of chemo. Applied topically, it removed and arrested the spread of the cancer. But being a soft tissue cancer, it was impossible to completely cure on the dosage she was taking. I wish I knew that before she died.

  58. Avatar Preci says:

I didn’t realize that you could have cooking oils with added CBD as a way to meet your needs. My wife has a medical condition that will require her to take CBD, and we are trying to find natural ways she can take it. We should look into different types of ingestibles, such as enhanced cooking oils, that my wife could use.

  77. Avatar Lu Russell says:

It is also best not to eat or drink anything after you take your dose it will give you a better intake for your body. I also hold mine under my tongue more than 60 seconds the long the better to get in your system Start off with 2 drops x twice a day and increase after about 5 days to more for your body weight and what you may be taken it for. Good Luck!

  78. Avatar marlin says:

I am taking 3 drops under tongue 2x a day for neuropathy.. it has helped the shooting pain. still trying to figure dosage and brand.

  79. Avatar Mantis says:

The author didn’t state that at all. This is actually an issue with the website. Look closely at the tables- the middle column is shifted upwards the father down you go, at least on my phone browser. Obviously edibles are slower to take effect than smoked/vaped. Web admin, please look into this, so people don’t get confused. Great article!

  80. Avatar Tracy says:

Make sure you check the brands third party testing. A lot of companies claim THC free when in fact there are traces of THC in their products. Also if a company does not provide third party lab results up front or at all, I would never buy from them.

  81. Avatar Stephanie says:

My father has been recently diagnosed with unresectable liver cancer. His weight is 65 kg. What’s the dose and brand of cannibis oil I can use for him?
    Thanks in advance

  91. Avatar Stephanie says:

My local tobacco and Vape shops sell CBD oil as well as a store in downtown Minneapolis called nothing but hemp!

  92. Avatar Carol says:

My son’s Dr gave him a prescription for CBD 25mg x 2. He can’t afford to buy his prescription. Can he just use one of these CBD oils and if so how much would equal his perscription? He has Grand Mal seizures and been taking Vimpat which don’t help. And how should he wean off the Vimpat. He takes vimpat twice a day I think 100 mgs of vimpat?

  93. Avatar Bill says:

I’m 87. Have lived with Trigeminal Neuralgia for 17 years. At first Tegretol helped a little but disease worsened and Tegretol damages liver. Went to legal Dronabinol(THC) with doc’s prescription. Insurance paid. CVS provided 2.5mg pill. THC Stopped pain, and no side effects. Also have tried CBD oil with 1200mgs per ounce. 2 drops sublingual. Not a good taste but I am without pain using CBD at 1200mgs per ounce. It also means I now have only a negligible amt of THC in my body.

  94. Avatar Bill says:

A similar experience. With me it’s trigeminal neuralgia. Fifteen years of pain helped a little bit with Tegretol that can damage liver. Started Dronabinol, lab made THC.2.5mg pill Literally stopped pain overnight. I don’t get stoned. Now just CBD. It works. I buy 1200mgs to the ounce of oil. I do two drops under my tongue once a day. not a great taste but I have No pain.

  95. Avatar Bree Ward says:

It’s quite interesting that medical professionals are now beginning to develop updates for CBD oil. It’s a good thing that you elaborated dosage, usage, an f the know-how process of CBD intake. If ever that I get to take CBD oil as medicine. I will make sure to know the dosage and refer to your article for further reference. Thanks for the info.

  96. Avatar Juli says:

I have given to my son who just turned 10. He is slightly right brain delayed. If he plays on the computer, the imbalance is aggravated and he has a decrease in emotion regulation. I give him mine in droplet form and it helps-a lot!

  98. Avatar Erika Brady says:

Thanks for the information on the correct dosage to take for the different options, such as checking what is recommended for the CBD tinctures or oils to figure out what quantity of drops to get. I also like your advice to hold it on your tongue for 60 seconds before swallowing to help with absorption. When purchasing CBD tincture oils or other products, it might be a good idea to check what is recommended beforehand and to learn about the results by researching the various brands online so you can read reviews and check out the manufacturer’s website to determine which will best help you get the results you want.

  99. Avatar Silas Knight says:

It’s good to know more about CBD oil. I like how you said that literally everyone is different, so dosage amounts differ with everyone. My wife wants to try this oil out for anxiety help, so I’ll tell her to get a professional opinion on how much she should take.

  104. Avatar Amy Paige says:

How to sensibly buy LEGAL cbd oil? Because I got a letter saying customs has confiscated my package two times already and I’m pissed.

  105. Avatar Sophia says:

How do I find CBD oil that contains no THC? I am concerned about failing a drug test but truly need the benefits CBD may provide for pain management. Is it more common in tinctures, vape products, or liquid? Should I be looking for anything specific? There is so much information I feel overwhelmed. How can I trust the sites word that it contains no THC?
Any help any of you could provide would be so appreciative!

  106. Avatar Amy A says:

I am curious if cbd oil would make me test positive on a drug test?

  107. Thanks for an advice! Now I can utilize CBD and don’t worry bout side effects. But one thought do not leave my mind, is CBD addictive? Coz now I can’t do anything without a morning dose. I suffered from migraines before using the CDB.

i have the same question. Husband is ADL independent and socially interactive. But no short term memory which is the source of his agitation and depression. Would CBD work?

  110. Avatar Gayle says:

Have you tried it yet for MG? I’m looking for the dosage as well.

  111. Thank you for the great article, and for putting this product together.

Would you speak a bit more about dosage determination … and where to begin?

    Thank you again!

  112. Avatar Eric Daniel says:

The first time I came across CBD was when I was visiting my brother in San Antonio, Texas 2 years back. The one day I had some serious back pain, My brother’s neighbour suggested that I should try CBD oil for my pain as it helps his mom with her cancer pain, and directed me to SABotanicals, a local CBD store in San Antonio where I bought a 2000mg CBD oil.

In the beginning, I was a sceptic, but it worked so well that I ordered three more bottles to last me for a few months. I must say that also felt relaxed but could do my work with no issues as it didn’t make me high.

To date, I’m still using CBD oil for my paid and came off pain medications completely.

    God gave us something great!

  113. Avatar HHC says:

Thanks for those dosage recommendations! Indeed dosage is so important to see real results but transparency on labs results and composition are definitively the most important criteria’s I’m looking at when it comes to buy CBD oil! Any opinion on CBDPure? Curious on what it’s worth..

  114. Avatar Ebony says:

I have the same thing. I’m trying to find some relief. I was told cbd oil 1500mg. Which one?

  115. Avatar Anna Marrian says:

Did you get an answer for this? I have the exact same scenario. I’m treating my TN with Tegretol, and recently tried CBD. I think I took too much and there are some weird drug interactions with Tegretol and I felt quite stoned….was alone and talking to myself in my head thinking I was Einstein. It freaked me out a bit but I think I took too much. I’m trying lower doses again as recently my TN seems to be resisting the meds, although I have had a lot of emotional stress, which seems to be a trigger. Thanks!! Anna

  116. Avatar Katherine Ward says:

To start half a dropper twice a day. After 2 weeks increase as needed. But get the 750mg.

  117. Avatar Adam Ranah says:

I read more CBD oil benefits you guys might be interested in.

  118. Avatar Tammy Ward says:

The CBD oil needs to be taken twice a day everyday. The dosage depends on symptoms and it takes 30 days to awken your natural cannabis system after you begin taking the oil. I personally use Hemp works CBD oil in the 750 strength and only need 5 drops sublingual 2 times daily and results are many. Problem with oil and alz.patients is getting them to hold oil under tongue for 60 seconds. We have just began to get my dad on it. He too is in a nursing home in the state of florida and they cannot deny him any medication my mom has requested that he receive. If she is not their they are supposed to administer and she will call them to make sure he gets it. He is not 30 days into dosing yet so I don’t have any results to speak of. I do know that since he has started he has had no more bladder infection and has not fallen in 3 weeks. That’s a record for him so we will continue to monitor. Best of luck to you and a lot is going to depend on the state your mom is in and what the state laws are concerning her rights or the rights of whom has her medical power of attorney

My husband was diagnosed with ALS (amyotrophic lateral sclerosis) when he was 61 years old 4 years ago. The Rilutek (riluzole) did very little to help him. The medical team did even less. His decline was rapid and devastating. His arms weakened first, then his hands and legs. Last year, a family friend told us about Rich Herbs Foundation (RHF) and their successful ALS TREATMENT, we visited their website www. richherbsfoundation. com and ordered their ALS/MND Formula, i am happy to report the treatment effectively treated and reversed his Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS), most of the symptoms stopped, he is able to walk and able to ride his treadmill again, he is pretty active now.

  121. Avatar Valerie Timmins says:

My 15 year old is ASD/aspergers and recently has been refusing his prescription meds for depression. He started taking CBD capsules, 25 mg each, and likes how he feels – he says it makes him energetic and upbeat. I figure if he thinks it works, I’m okay..!

  122. Avatar Sandy A. says:

Mike, what kind of breast cancer (invasive ductal, I presume)? How many of her lymph nodes were positive? How big was the primary tumor? Reason I ask is that in women with Stage I or IIA tumors that are estrogen-and progesterone-receptor-positive and HER2-negative (ER+/PR+/HER2-) with three or fewer positive lymph nodes, there is a genomic assay test on a sample of the tumor, called OncotypeDX, that will tell doctors whether chemo is necessary or would even work at all. Medicare covers that test 100%.

That type of breast cancer mentioned above, which I had as Stage IA, is treated in postmenopausal women with anti-estrogen drugs called aromatase inhibitors(aka AIs: anastrazole, letrozole, or exemestane)which have as a side effect joint pain. CBD oil is effective for this joint pain it is not, I repeat, NOT a substitute for chemo, radiation or these anti-estrogen drugs.

So don’t assume your mom’s cancer will require chemo; but if it does, CBD helps with those side effects as well. If she lives in a state where medical marijuana is legal, there are doctors who sub-specialize in certifying applications for a medical marijuana card, and in the interim before the card is issued can advise as to the appropriate dose of CBD oil (legal and over-the-counter in all 50 states). Some (though not most) medical oncologists will certify their own patients’ medical marijuana card applications so she need not seek out another doctor; and will advise the appropriate dose for her symptoms. Once she gets her card, the “budtenders” in the licensed dispensaries can advise her as to the right CBD product (with or without THC), strength, and dosage. If she lives in a state where recreational weed is legal, the “budtenders” in the marijuana shops can steer her to the right strength of CBD oil and the right dosage.

  123. Avatar Bryce says:

you generally start with 3 drops under the tongue 3 times a day. After 5 days, increase by 3 drops until relief. max 1 mill (20 drops) per day.

  124. Avatar scott says:

is there a recommended dosage to take for both adults and children…for no particular problem but just as a preventative?

  125. Avatar Joe Spinell says:

I would start with 50 mg 2x daily and only lower the dosage if you have upset stomach. If you tolerate it well, you can even take more than that. If you live in a state with legal cannabis, I recommend 5 to 10mg THC with it. Good luck.

  126. Avatar Jim Mallory says:

I just started vaping for back pain and am still trying to find the right dosage. How does your son determine dosage? Is it the number of times he smokes, the amount of oil he smokes, or what.? Hope you can help me.

My mother has dementia/Alzheimers along with a broken knee that they will not repair do to her mental status. She is currently in a nursing home. I firmly believe her mental situation began with the over use of hydrocodone for over 30 years and was acerbated by the trauma of breaking and disconnecting her knee cap. Since weaning her off of her meds (still in progress) we have regained much of her consciousness. I want to try CBD to help in her recovery or to help slow down the disease. I cannot find a dosage recommendation plus the nursing home/doctor does not recommend it. I would need to give it to her when I am there visiting (about 3 – 4 times per week). Is there a recommended dosage for dementia/Alzheimers?

  129. Avatar Karen says:

I have idiopathic peripheral neuropathy … the only thing they found that would work is lyrica. I picked up some CBD oil yesterday morning. I am prescribed to take 75 mg of lyrica 3x per day. I took one yesterday morning and have only used the CBD oil since. I bought the Koi brand, flavored, 250 MG. I used a full dropper yesterday late morning and a full dropper yesterday late afternoon. I used it once today (one full dropper) and I am amazingly pain free.

  138. Avatar Miss Lyn Nichols says:

Hi Diane, how did you go on with the CBD oil please. If it worked how long before you saw any results. I’m scared of flaring everything. Nerve damage across buttocks from a surgeon who found the nerve stuck to the bulge during a laminectomy operation and prised it off. I haven’t sat for 5 years and getting worse. A muscle in my buttock is now throbbing constantly and causing pain to the muscle above. I’ve only started taking it today but the muscle pain is still as painful. Does it take a while for it to work. Only started on low dose to see what happens.
    Thank you
    Lyn

  139. Avatar Miss Lyn Nichols says:

    Hi Lauren
I’ve just started today with 250mg cbd oil. I’m starting low to see what happens. I’ve nerve damage across buttocks from a laminectomy. I’ve not been able to sit for 5 years. I’ve recently started with a muscle spasm in my left buttock and the muscle above is painful. It is only the first day, also tried a cbd night time tea as well. Do change in muscle pain so tight on my left hand side. How long before felt it starting to work please. I’m trying not to expect changes straightaway. I also take 1100mg gabapentin and 30mg amitriptyline and I hate both of them – they both can cause muscle tightness affecting the nerve. Thank you Lyn

  140. Avatar Karen says:

I have purchased the same. My bottle says 3 times a day. I have endometriosis, hip and knee pain. It helps me by taking it 3 times a day.

  141. Stephanie, generally, I have patients take 20 to 150mg a day for sleep +/- anxiety. Start low and go slow. Know the dosages of your product. Usually 2/3 to 3/4 of the daily dose is 1-2 hours before bedtime, and the other portion is upon waking (to improve wakefulness during the day). Other factors such as stress, hormone replacement, other meds & medical conditions, etc. play a role along with individual differences. I own a compounding pharmacy, so we see a lot of unique needs. I can’t give more specific advice in this forum, but there is help!

  142. Avatar Victoria says:

Has anyone received a answer on the appropriate amount of capsules to take for insomnia. Do you take before bed time or any time during the day

  143. Avatar Mary Novelli says:

Yes, definitely !!!! My sister had great success and no longer has epileptic seizures She got off the seizure medicine completely and is so happy.

  144. Avatar Carolyn says:

I too suffer from psoriasis. I’ve tried alot of different products but always seem to get Hemp Oil instead of CBD oil. Can you send me the brand you are using. I may as well try it. Glad you have found relief.

  145. Avatar Gary says:

    Amanda,

I use Elixinol’s gel caps and they don’t upset my stomach. Those are 15mg each. I currently take one twice a day for chronic pain. After two months I do see some improvement.

  146. Avatar Jen says:

    Hi Marilyn,
I would recommend a topical lotion or salve to start for instant relief.. Maybe 250 to 300 mg tincture to see how you feel. For me, the salve took the pain in my hands away in under a minute. I didn’t notice how much the tincture worked until I forgot to take on vacation. Pain that was pretty much gone but came back, I was tired, grumpy and felt horrible. It works, just need to find right product and dosage for you.

  147. Avatar Heather Root says:

I just bought my first bottle of the same 300 strength. I took two full droppers, for 20mg. I feel great, and it’s really taking the edge off my pain.

  148. Avatar Gary says:

The article is just a little helpful How about saying x amount of dropper full times 1-2-or 3x a day and yes factor in the ml see very simple

I have severe neuropathy from mid torso down. I started reducing the gabipitin every two weeks because of the success with CBD. This is my second attempt to get away from the synthetic drugs with CBD oil. The first time was not taking enough, now I take three dropper full everyday.

  151. Avatar Evelyn says:

I had chronic pain all over my body I mean from head to toe I just purchased some cod oil how long does it take for it to work bcus I’m also taking ibuprofen when I can’t take the pain

  152. Avatar Casey says:

    Hi,
I was also diagnosed with MS has anyone given you the correct dosage yet? Thanks

  153. Avatar Amanda says:

The dosages mentioned do not take into account the strength of the tincture. I have Elixinol 300, I took 1/2 dropper (0.5ml, which offers 5mg of CBD) as indicated on the bottle and felt severely nauseous for 3 hours thereafter. There is no way I cold take this dose twice per day, as recommended on the bottle. The high dosages on this site must surely be for much weaker concentrations?

  154. Avatar Claire says:

My son on the spectrum vapes cannabis and it is helpful for anxiety and socialization. I don’t know if CBD alone is useful.

  155. Avatar Kathryn DeYoung says:

  156. Avatar Shelly says:

Oh my gosh! I am researching cbd oil because of my psoriasis and psoriatic arthritis. I am getting worse and do NOT want to go on a drug that suppresses my immune system. Been there done that. It helped the psoriasis but I was sick constantly. How has your experience been?

  157. Avatar Stephanie says:

Did you ever get a response? I’m trying to get answers on the exact topic and can’t find a thing on the web…. so frustrating!

  158. Avatar Marilyn Lundy says:

I have purchased one bottle of hemp oil 1000mgm. The outer box says read instructions within for dosage. It is all in a foreign language. I have severe arthritis of both knees and right hip. I have taken only one capsule each morning. Is this OK?

  159. Avatar Val says:

Hi! This is exactly what I need. My psoriasis is flaring again 🙁

  166. Avatar Emily says:

Kent, My mother has suffered from severe migraines since she was a child. Six weeks ago, she received the hemp oil tincture (I do not know what dosage). She does not take it daily. She rubs a drop or two on her temples at the start of a migraine. The drops worked more effectively for her than her medication did, and now that is all she uses. Hope this helps.

  167. Avatar Diane says:

I suffer from severe neuropathy in both feet. I bought some CBD oil today and started with 3 drops at 2 pm and 3 drops at 9:00 pm. I think it’s too early to tell. But I will let you know if it’s working after a week. I am praying it works

  168. Avatar Rob McWilliam says:

I don’t see any recommendations for water-soluble CBD oil. Since the body is made up of around 90% water, and oil is not soluble in water in its natural state, wouldn’t this be a logical choice to get CBD into your system? What is your thoughts on water-soluble CBD capsules from BioCBD?

  169. Avatar Brenda says:

I have a friend that gives it to her son whom is severely autistic. It calms him down and helps him to sleep well. How much exactly I’m not sure. But it’s so worth it

  175. Avatar Kunji Rey says:

How much are you taking if you dong mind me askin? How many MG CBD?

  176. Avatar Kunji Rey says:

I had a client using CBD from whole hemp for neuropathy with great success! The most important thing is taking it apart from other medications esp for heart, and giving yourself enough of a dose. You can’t hurt yourself with it. If I were you, I would just go slow for the first few days then go up. Explore it and don’t be shy!

  177. Avatar Kunji Rey says:

How many ounces and MG of CBD are in your bottle?

  178. Avatar JJ says:

I started with a half dropper full every night then added mornings. Now I take a whole dropper AM and PM. I also had sciatica and ITBS. Hardly no pain now.

  179. Avatar Naomi says:

Jane, I would get a salve (the highest CBD content you can find) and apply it topically. Alternatively, you could get cbd oil and just mix it in organic coconut oil.

  180. Avatar Kmg says:

I have/had ovarian/primary peritoneal cancer. I used thc/cbd oil pills I self made from the start. I am supposedly their “poster child”. I went thru with chemo and surgery. Oh that horror! But when I tried to tell two seperate doctors, the surgeon was all about it, and my oncologist threw a fit and said it was an anecdote. There are more than 100 studies at the NIH govt website.

  181. Avatar boo says:

My mom is late stage dementia. We have tried coconut oil/black pepper/curcumin combo for years. Gives only tine bit of help, and is not something that reverses dementia. Maybe in someone who can score better than a 14 on the mme it could be of help. But cannabinoid is a different story. Cannabinoids produce better results in less time. Can’t say yet that they will reverse anything though.

For psoriatic arthritis with severe joint involvement what brand, type, and dose should I try

  186. Avatar Nate says:

Pharmacists have since moved to metric measurements, with a drop being rounded to exactly 0.05 mL (50 μL, that is, 20 drops per milliliter) – https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Drop_(unit)

    1oz is 30 mL

    1000mg/30mL = 33.3 mg/mL CBD concentration

    20 drops * .05 mL/drop = 1mL

    10 drops * .05 mL/drop = .5mL

you take 33.3 mg in the morning
    and 16.65mg at night

I might suggest taking 50mg in the morning:
    50mg / 33.3 mg/mL = 1.50 mL
    30 drops

try it for a couple days and see how it helps

  193. Avatar Micki says:

    Tammy et al,
Through trial and error you will find a correct dosage. Try 50 mg daily….25 each 2x daily….if no results up the dosage until it works for you. Remember, there has never been a death from marijuana or CBD use.
You might want to try a tincture or rub with CBD and THC. You won’t get the psych high from it. Helps my friend with PArkinsons tremors. She takes 50mg of tincture and uses the rub morning and night. It is a miracle for arthritis.
    Good luck

Your dosaging advice said, 40-1280mg daily for schizophrenia for UP TO 4 WEEKS. Does it mean to say that no more treatment needed and it would cure it?? Indeed 1280mg a day is enormous amount not to mention the cost to be realistic as a treatment. Your response is appreciated.

If you are taking CBD oil, you should have no need for the Advil, which is detrimental to your liver. If you are not getting adequate pain relief from the 2 drops you are taking, try increasing it. Will help you sleep better also.

Degenerative disc disease, excruciating pain, prednisone worked, but couldn’t keep her on it..pain killers and muscle relaxants didn’t help, really thought I would have to put her down. Chi bloggers suggested CBD; gave PetReleaf a shot–like you, literally within minutes I could see the difference, in days she was pain free and now is back in charge of our world. The real key here is that with my dog, there is zero, nada, chance that there was any placebo effect…

I am trying to help my son as he has been on many meds and none have really worked. I have asked his dr about this treatment and he did tell me I could try it.

  230. Avatar Victoria Hebner says:

Unfortunately, due to strict FDA laws, I am not legally able to say that CBD will help with your husbands specific condition, however I can direct you to some literature to help you better understand what CBD may offer. I have attached links below. As far as strength and dosage goes, tinctures and concentrates are absorbed the fastest since it goes directly into your blood stream; the dosage on these can be measured and controlled. Capsules take a little longer to enter your body since it goes through your digestive tract, these are also measured and controlled. I would recommend reading through our page on dosing as well to get a better understanding.

    Hi Colleen,
it’s almost a year later and I’m wondering how you’re doing.
I’m experiencing a recurrence of Stage 3 ovarian, originally diagnosed in 2011. I’ve decided to get some chemo, not sold on another 6 cycles though. As a new MMJ patient, I’m still going to go through with Rick Simpson Oil (THC+CBD,) and I just joined a program with my local dispensary to get CBD capsules for $2 each when I order them at least 30 at a time.
    I hope you’re doing well!!
I’m off to do more research on dosing.
**NOTE: If you have ANY experience with CBD treatment of ovarian cancer, PLEASE respond. Thank you!!

I wish everyone here the best, and hope it works for you as well as it has for me.

  257. Avatar Jane says:

I am currently going through red skin syndrome/topical steroid withdrawal. The only cure as of now is time(6 months to 3 years) and waiting out horrible eczema-like flares. My main issue is burning/tingling skin that is almost constant. Steroids close off blood vessels and when you stop them they ‘wake’ up causing this nerve discomfort/pain. I’ve been smoking medical cannabis for the duration of my recovery(1.5 years) and It’s done wonders except that the flare is around my mouth and I’m afraid the smoking is causing more issues.. as well as helping. I need to step up my game and take a different approach. I am wondering how to go about using cbd but I don’t know where to start and was wondering if you could help.
    Thank you

  271. Avatar yolanda says:

Please tell me where you get this. We are desperate for answers. My husband suffers from severe nerve pain from chemo.

  272. Avatar Mary says:

My husband has RSD and we are considering CBD oil -= I would ask at Hempmed because the spray won’t have enough in it. Our dgt’;s friend has ovarian cancer and it is shrinking her tumors but the spray would never have been enough.
I would get CBD oil and check with Hempmeds to see what they suggest. It isn’t cheap but it does work.
LOW dose Naltrexone about 4.5 mg is very helpful for RSD and is usually used for getting people off of drugs but is working on turning off the glial cells that surround the nerve that is causing the nerve to scream in pain.
We are also using PeaPure that is out of the Netherlands and we are seeing a response, even though small. His other leg touched the painful leg without causing more severe pain. That is progress.
We also are using Poison Ivy Cream through Meadowlake Farms that has helped the burning surface pain.
Change your diet and get rid of Gluten and Sugar, anything that causes inflammation.
This is to allow your own body to work.
Absolutely do not use any pain killers as it will turn up your pain. all the Hydrocodone, etc causes neural inflammation and so it will keep cascading higher your pain.
    Hope this is helpful.
    Mary

I have fibromyalgia, insomnia and RSD and I’m just learning about the possible benefits of CBD. The previous comment from Mary is very discouraging. I’m looking for hope; can you help me with direction.

    Thank you

    Hello Roy,

We will attempt to help you as much as possible.

As you know CBD is a new treatment option so there are almost no scientific studies and very few case studies available. However as a general rule the best thing to do is just to start.

We say this because everyones body metabolizes CBD at different rates. So the best way to find the proper dosage for you is just to start. The good news is that feeling sleepy is about the only side effect of overdosing CBD, so experimentation is pretty safe.

What we recommend on our site is to start with 25mg of CBD taken as often as you need it throughout the day. If you find this works stick with it. If you find you need more, or are having to take it too many times during the day, then take more such as 50mg with each serving.

Which oil should you use that will ship to the UK?
We have reviewed all the top CBD oil products and have found Endoca to be the best and most powerful oil on the market. If you are going to use CBD hemp oil we recommend using raw CBD oil. This is the most natural and has the highest amount of plant constituents present which increases effectiveness.

The best oil to start with is Endoca Raw Hemp Oil 2000mg. If taking 50mg a day this tube will last you 40 days. If you are taking 200mg a day you will need to purchase 3 tubes per month.

I have been using the CBD spray, not knowing how much to use. I have RSD which is a very painful disease and I was hoping this would help….so far nothing. Does it have to build up in your system to be effective. Also at 100 a bottle, it gets a little spendy. I wish you explained dosage better.

    Thank you,
    Mary

I have had several neurological conditions like Bells Palsy three times, double vision, paralysis of left side of tongue. I have a lot of relief whenever I have pain by taking an inflamattory drug etoshine90 mg. Presently I have started taking Steroids for my facial palsy. The various pains I was having on the left side of neck, below the left ear, dizziness, pain around the head have subsided immidiately after the first dose of prendisolone 60 mg.

I have read that CBD hemp oil can be useful for my condition of neurological and inflammation issues. My question is what concentrate (mg) of the oil should I take and for how long. Any brand that you may suggest that are available in the UK. Thank you.
